The Pendant — Miquiztli
At the center hangs a large jade skull — Miquiztli in Nahuatl. Before you see what you think you see, understand what this symbol truly means.
In Mesoamerican philosophy, the skull was not a symbol of death in the Western sense — of ending, of fear, of the macabre. Miquiztli was the symbol of the cycle — of transformation, of regeneration, of life emerging from death as the corn emerges from the buried seed. The Aztec Tzompantli — the skull rack at the Templo Mayor — was not a monument to death. It was a monument to the continuity of life, to the sacrifice that sustains the sun, to the understanding that nothing ends — it only transforms.

The Structure — Ometeotl
This necklace is strung in the ancient Prehispanic form according to the Sacred Oral Tradition — the Tenonotzal. The two rear Energy Beads represent Feminine and Masculine Energy, the Duality of the Creator, Ometeotl in Nahuatl. They meet at the Neck Bead — the Namictiliztli, the Wedding. The front beads in various sizes represent the Family — Cenyeliztli. Jade absorbs negative energy, protecting the wearer from the ill intentions of others. Fully adjustable. One of a kind. Handmade.
The Energy Beads — Pakal
The two rear Energy Beads — representing Feminine and Masculine Energy, the Ometeotl duality — are carved in the likeness of K'inich Janaab' Pakal, the Great — the most celebrated ruler in all of Maya history. Pakal ruled Palenque for 68 years, built the Temple of the Inscriptions, and was buried beneath it in a jade sarcophagus with a jade mosaic mask pressed to his face and jade placed in his hands and mouth — so he could speak to the gods and carry their sacred stone into the next world. His face on these Energy Beads is not decoration. It is an invocation. The greatest jade king in history, resting at the back of your neck, guarding your energy.
How to Wear
The necklace adjusts via two sliding knots and a Neck Bead at the back of the neck. Move the knots to slide the Neck Bead up or down, adjusting pendant length as desired. To remove, hold the Neck Bead, slide the knots down to shrink the loops, then slide the Neck Bead down to remove. Do not pull knots open with the Neck Bead — this causes premature wear. Do not wet.
